Great food - was pleasantly surprised!
Very old pub! There was apparently a wake taking place when I arrived! Went on till 2.30 in the morning! Went down in the morning to try and get breakfast. The smell of cigarette smoke at the top of the stairs was so strong. After a couple of minutes stood in the dark a man came down the stairs, went behind the bar, put a cigarette out and put the lights on! Really not sure what it was in the pot of coffee! Should have taken the hint that the pot stuck itself to the table!
Basic, decent good pub food.Have been here several times and have never been disappointed.
Utterly worthless. Took a two-night booking for three rooms with a deposit at over a week's notice. Upon arrival, we were told "sorry, we're double booked, I thought we could sort it the day before yesterday so we didn't tell you". Leaving us 140 miles from home with absolutely everywhere in the area fully booked. Disgraceful.
Very friendly staff. They offer to do a wrap-up for you if you are leaving before breakfast is served. Old, quaint building. Some rooms have very nice views of the adjacent church and gardens. Rooms were not particularly modern and the water in the shower is cold if you are up early in the morning.
